Probably what’s know as the ‘Great Storm’ of 1953 – also called the ‘North Sea Flood’ and this hit the east side of England very hard. The weather conditions were very very bad. Strong winds pushed the water in the sea towards the land in big waves. The people living at the sea were not ready for such big waves, and most people lived in little houses. Lots of houses filled with water and 300 people died, as the storm hit at night and no body was ready.
After the storm, people realised how stormy it could be, and prepared themselves better just in case it happened again!
