Pollution is already killing thousands of sea creatures; about a quarter of the great barrier reef where I have done some work died this year because it got too hot as a result of pollution in the atmosphere (global warming). Oil spills also kill thousands of creatures and pollutants like micro beads kill plankton. I have published work that showed that underwater noise leads to more fish being eaten by predators. It makes me feel sad but it also makes me feel like I want to do something about it! Part of what I am doing is experiments to show what the effects are, then I am raising awareness of the issues. The more people care the more species we are likely to save!
