Question: what does radiation do to humans?

Too much radiation can damage the cells inside our bodies. It can make you sick and can burn your skin.
This is only with massive amounts though.
On the more positive side, there are studies going on at the moment that are looking at whether small amounts of radiation might actually be good for you.
