My job is a lot of fun most of the time – I especially love interacting with the skeletons directly and finding out cool things about them. I also love talking to other archaeologists about science and really old societies – I think this teaches us a lot about the world around us and the human past.
I also get to travel quite a lot to different museums around the world to look at bones. I also get to travel to what’s known as a ‘conference’, where many scientists gather to talk about their work – I recently went to one in sunny Spain, which was excellent fun!
There are definitely a few moments when it’s not as fun – like when you have to read one thing that isn’t that interesting in order to understand it, or you have to do complicated math. Thankfully, most scientists have very good mentors and labmates who help each other get through these kinds of things. So it’s not too bad!
