There are some animals where I can’t find any research which shows if they are active in the day or the night! I need your help and the help of other members of the public to identify what species are nocturnal in Britain! See my profile for an explanation of why this is important 🙂

      Hi @Prof. Christon

When we are out and about, we get alot of questions about what we are doing. People go to the beach when the weather is nice and don’t realise how much damage is done by a storm while they are home nice and warm and dry (while we are out braving the storm to collect information).

I would like to be able to show the science behind a storm and how it damages our lovely beaches in a way that people of all ages can understand.
I would also like to show why storms can be dangerous to people who do go and have a look at the beach when the waves are very big, as some people dont realise the power of the sea!

I would love to be able to make a video to send to schools, or put on a website so that people can watch it. I have seen how powerful the sea can be and I want others to see as well! At the moment I know what I can make, but have no way of making it, so thats where the money would help me.

      Lauren 😀

      Hi @Prof. Christon,

If I’m lucky enough to win, I would use the money to help some colleagues which work for a charity called Mission Rabies. The money would be used to teach children the same age as you in India and Africa how to protect themselves from Rabies, a terrible disease that can affect animals and people. My colleagues, who are vets and scientists, use films, lessons, crafts and talks to teach the class at school about this disease and how it spreads. This is a great way to protect children in these countries from infection.

I work with the Society for Radiological Protection and we run schools events throughout the year to bring the science of radiation protection to school kids in a fun and interactive way. We’re currently working on a new activity for our events and the money would go towards making that even better!

      Hello, thanks for asking!

If I win, I will buy a full-size skeleton model to bring with me to different schools around England and teach more students like you about the human body and archaeology – specifically bones and how our skeletons are so cool!

At the moment, I do this a lot in Cambridge where I work, but our model skeleton is a bit old and we could use a new one. I would be so excited if I won to share science with more students!

      Michael 🙂
