      Hi there,

I am actually a ‘lab scientist’, which means I mainly work in museums and laboratories! I don’t like getting too dirty and doing manual labour, so I leave it to my friends to go out to exciting places and dig stuff up for me!

I will say, though, that there was something I did a few years ago – it was called Access Cambridge Archaeology, and for it, I brought a bunch of 11- to 13-year-old students out to a dig, to teach them about archaeology. We dug a 50 metre pit in people’s back gardens (with those people’s permission, of course!) And we managed to find a lot of stuff from Victorian England, around 170 to 100 years old. This stuff included animal bones, like pig bones, horse bones and sheep bones. There were also these pipes made of clay, quite a distinctive feature of Victorian England!

      Michael 🙂
