The most interesting discovery has to be Lucy – Lucy is an ancestor of our species. Lucy lived around 2 million years ago and was part of the first group of ape-like humans to walk on two legs. Before we discovery Lucy, nobody knew that was how long we walked on two legs! Check her out on Wikipedia – you can find her if you Google search:

      Australopithecus afarensis (Lucy)

One of the first scientific theories that I had to learn at school was about gravity, and think it is a very interesting discovery by Isaac Newton in 1664. Ever wanted to know why things fall down? or how planets orbit around the sun? Newton discovered that and explained it. He found that gravity is the force that draws objects towards each other and I think that he was very clever to have found that out!
